New War Drumz Audio Art Promo Art Released Thanksgiving Week

It’s the last week of November and it’s looking pretty prosperous coming from the WDAA direction. Two of War Drumz Audio Art members release their promotional art for projects expected to release within the upcoming days.

Spotted first on Pharaoh Slumzyniah’s Facebook, we catch wind of what this lyrical god has in store.

Seems a little sinister and very frightening, but, I guess, we’ll have to be patient and see what he’s dropping next week. Tony Bonez Sinatra is expected to release his new single ” Raise Hell” this December 5th.

In addition to Tony Bonez’s poster being set free from the WDAA vault, FLuX’s releases two images via his Instagram this past weekend.

Hmm, “The Last Tape” sounds intriguing. Did he leave his best work for last or is it literally his last mixtape? Hopefully, we can get more from FLuX once the project is released.

On the following day, comes this mysterious image of the word “mortals” spelled out in what looks to be a vicious fire. It also was posted to FluX’s Instagram profile.

Mortals-Promo3-1

Not much we can take from that, either. It’s just another mystery to ponder over. It’s uncertain when his project will drop. Hopefully, it’s sometime soon because too much suspense can detrimental to Doc’s little heart.

YTube Vid of The Week: PRINCESS RAP BATTLE- SNOW WHITE VS. ELSA Whitney

Hip-hop is indeed a culture that captivates every soul at least once in a lifetime. But man, can it get to be so damn corny.

This week’s YTube Vid of the Week comes from a random stumble upon while scrolling my Facebook timeline, and not browsing YouTube as I normally do. I was reading an article about Disney princesses on Buzzfeed (don’t ask haha) when I suddenly see a headline that caught my eye regarding two generations of Disney goddesses battle rap for the win. What win? I don’t know. See the ridiculous video below.

The Internet is interesting isn’t it? Can you believe there are more princess rap battles on YouTube? All I can say is the mind is amazing because I never know what motivates people to make some videos. Haha.

Who do you think won this battle? Obviously, it was Elsa, but leave your comments below.

Sign Petition For Baltimore’s Running Man To Be Endorsed By Sports Apparel Company Under Armour

Our hearts weighed heavy with reports of Baltimore legendary figure being subjected to gang violence this past week.

runman

A Baltimore police report confirmed that Keith Boissiere was attacked on Thursday in Southwest Baltimore on the 2700 block of Wilkens Ave. When someone attacked him, punching him several times in his left eye, Boissiere was still able to flag down a police officer for assistance. He refused medical treatment when police suggested.

Social media flooded with statuses of anger and disgust as a man, many people grew up watching run through their neighborhoods, was harmed by a group of heedless thugs.

2014-11-23 13.03.38

Stated online at Go Petition:

Please help Keith THE RUNNING MAN Boissiere, get an Under Armour contract. Who would be a better spokesperson for running gear than him? Also the running man is a Baltimore Icon who needs a Kidney transplant.

The reason the Running Man is such an icon in this city is because he represents a sense of freedom and peace, among other things including keeping in tip-top shape as we all should strive to do as human beings.

Mr. Boissiere as served as an beacon of inspiration among many of Baltimore’s residents and he has done this quietly never seeking accolades. I strongly feel that it is time he be recognized and given his just do. My only fear is that The Running Man’s modesty will keep him from accepting.

So please sign this petition because if he does not get a kidney it will end his running days and probably his life. Therefore the citizens of Baltimore need to come together and show how much we care for an Icon that represents the best of our city.

Will you take the time to sign the petition, today? Help a Baltimore Legend THE RUNNING MAN by clicking this link.

Pharaoh Slumzyniah Produces Fire With Release of 2nd Underground Album “No Role Models, No Rules”

This week, Baltimore native Pharaoh Slumzyniah released his second underground album No Roles Models, No Rules and reveals that embracing your dark side can be quite cultivating, too. He further introduces to the world a new type of hip-hop, which he calls menace rap, a new style of music that has no regards to what society expects. It’s an album geared entirely to “not giving any f*%@s.”

NoRoleModels No Rules Cover

No Role Models, No Rules was set to release Saturday, November 15, 2014. Unfortunately, the anticipated underground album was delayed an additional 3 days building more anticipation for Slumzy fans. But despite the contrary, the album still exceeded fans’ expectations, and has proven a bigger and better composition than his previous discography .

The album is composed of 18 somber, but still upbeat, tracks that, though may get you pondering whether you should be nodding your head or seeking to drown in your sorrows, will have you dancing nonetheless.

tracklisting

To name a few artists who have been featured on the Pharaoh’s new mixtape are War Drumz Audio artists FLuX, Leon Dominick, Quinn Shabaz and Based rap artists Lor Bluntz and Hazmat Caz.

Experimental sounds of dubstep, old school, westcoast, and hardcore hip-hop influenced and blended together on No Role Models No Rules to create an exquisitely composed masterpiece. Majority of the album’s producer credits comes from Pharaoh Slumzyniah, himself, as Slumzy along with Exclusive Orchestra, Def Starz, The Marvel, Clyde Strokes, Xeno Carr and other talented producers, including Baltimore and War Drumz Audio Art artist Tony Bonez Sinatra.

“Thumbs Up” Tracks

My favorite tracks on No Role Models, No Rules are “Fall of Pete” featuring Hazmat Caz and “Cypress Hill” featuring Lor Bluntz & FLuX.

“Fall of Pete” is a song that’ll place you in nostalgia of west coast rap. Do you remember Snoop Dogg’s “Who Am I (What’s My Name)?” The instrumental will have you thinking the music video should be set in a neighborhood similar to East Compton. I wonder if that’s something to look forward to from Mr. Slumzyniah, hmm?

“Cypress Hill” is a pothead’s anthem and we just don’t get enough of those, right? Depicted from three perspectives, the listener gets the inside to how the infamous Mary Jane comforts and provides remedy while they all float their way to solace on cloud nine.

No Role Models, No Rules is now available for download on Datpiff.com. Be sure to get your copy today! (CLICK THIS LINK FOR DOWNLOAD) Don’t forget to follow Pharaoh Slumzyniah’s social media at Pharaoh Slumzyniah on Facebook, Slum_Money on Instagram, and SKSlumzy on Twitter.

Kat Dahlia Shows Baltimore Lots of Love at Baltimore Soundstage For My Garden Tour

On Sunday, November 16, 2014, hip-hop artist Kat Dahlia stopped through Baltimore for her My Garden Tour to give us a little preview of her debut album My Garden.

my garden

It was my first time seeing Kat Dahlia perform and she definitely came through and showed us the best of what she had while on stage that night.

Kat Dahlia’s line up during her set consisted of a few familiar songs, which any Kat Dahlia fan would easily know and sing the words to. The energy of the crowd that night was awesome, though the audience was a little tight nit. It was what Kat described to be “small and intimate.”

20141116_213046

The performance set included a playlist of her songs Crazy, The High, and more of her classics. As she performed, she painted a picture for her listeners, giving everyone the back story to her love life, and ultimately explained to everyone what each song to her album stemmed from. It was very interactive as she asked people if they’ve ever been through what she’s gone through and if they understand heartbreak how she has. She also performed covers to Lauryn Hill’s “Zion” and A Great Big World’s “Say Something.” But the crowd absolutely turned up for her popular debut single, “Gangsta,” dancing and singing every word of the lyrics.

Kat Dahlia brought with her a band of men from different cultures. She stated with a settle giggle, “My men come from all over.”

A bass player from cuba…

A white man who showed us his smooth skills on the piano and guitar…

20141116_215655

And a black man who let us bump while banging on the drums…

20141116_215750

The night was at its best.

While I spoke to a few people at the concert before Kat blessed the stage, I asked them how they’ve got familiar with this musical goddess. Lots of people said they researched who she was using Google and found some of her videos posted on YouTube. Since then, they’ve kept up with what she’s been releasing. Cool!

Doc’s Castle Media ran a contest for dedicated readers and fans of Kat Dahlia a few days before the concert. Two lucky winners got the chance to see Kat Dahlia free with a special guest.

I hope both contestants enjoyed themselves at the show. I was secretly spying on them while I was there to see if they enjoyed. I would hate it they’d went and they didn’t have fun. Haha. I think the mission was accomplished.

Baltimore showed Kat Dahlia so much love that evening. I hope she comes back to our charmed city once the album drops to give us sort of delayed encore so more people can get in tune with this refreshingly new style of hip-hop, which she refers to as ….

Talk about building up suspense. 4thQu has done just that for quite some time. So it’s a must see to watch him perform ahead of Kat Dahlia.

Vote for Doc’s Castle Media in 2014 Mobbies Maryland Blog Competition

What an honor! I have been nominated under three categories in the 2014 Mobbies Blog and Social Media Competition. Yay! Thank you everyone!

I have never been nominated in any competition as such, especially for my writings, and I’m extremely thankful for all of you who were active in deciding to nominate me under the following three categories: Best Label Defying Blog, Best Music Blog, and Best Personal Blog.

Mobbies Logos

This competition is sponsored by the Baltimore Sun and the Creative Alliance, LLC.

I love to write, though I didn’t always know that. Doc’s Castle Media opened my eyes to my talents. I always knew I had a knack for ideas because I always owned a composition notebook or sketchbook full of thoughts since the age of 10. But to really take an active role in blogging or any kind of journalism, my mind wasn’t with it until it was made one of my duties to complete while working for an internship. I strongly opposed the idea of being a journalist my entire 4 years attending high school. I guess now, I’ve made myself out to be a liar because look at my site! It’s 3 years going strong with over 300 blog posts. I write like a journalist and I do it a lot!

I write because I believe that my voice matters. I believe that my thoughts and feelings about things carry value. My whole purpose for creating a blog was to use my words to influence others to do something meaningful in their lives. Each day, I ponder the possibilities of that actually happening. Seeing that people took the time to nominate me has shown me that my purpose might be working. Apparently, I offer something you all like.

I often talk to people while I’m out in the streets of Baltimore or while on Facebook, and people compliment me on my commitment and dedication to continue writing about what’s happening around the city from a unique and entertaining perspective. I appreciate that plenty of you take notice. I’m even more grateful to hear that many of you read on a consistent basis. It’s still weird getting this type of attention from writing freely. But I love you all more each day as you continue to support me and share my thoughts with the world! It drives me more…like really, I’m so motivated to keep doing this.

mob

As I’m busting my tail to provide something unique and special for you all, please do me the favor in voting for me, just as you all nominated me, in this year’s annual Mobbies Blog and Social Media Competition. It’d mean a lot to me if I could actually win in any of the categories I’m nominated for.

Below is the link to the directions for voting for the nominees in the 2014 Mobbies. Please register with one of your social media accounts and vote for Doc’s Castle Media!
